Collection: Architecture
MESDA’s collection includes architectural woodwork collected from houses in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. This collection was originally assembled by Frank L. Horton to serve as backdrops for period room installations. Today, in addition to providing scale and context for our study galleries, MESDA’s architectural collections are also studied as important Southern objects in their own right that that can tell stories of style, craftsmanship, migration, ethnicity, and race.
