The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts at Old Salem Museums & Gardens in
Winston-Salem, NC, is home to the finest collection of southern decorative arts in the United States.
Founded in 1965, MESDA is internationally recognized for its contributions to the
study and understanding of the history, decorative arts, and material culture of the American South.
MESDA’s unparalleled collections span eight states and three centuries. The Friends of MESDA program provides essential support for the acquisition, conservation, research, and exhibition of important artifacts made and used in the early South.
