Silver and gold – which like glass do not taint the flavor of wine – present a particularly conspicuous way to consume wine. This pair of goblets was made by the Baltimore silversmith William Ball for an unknown patron. They are a rare example in which the gold-wash on the insides of their bowls has not worn off.
