Description

MAKER: Unity Hooper was born in Hanover County, Virginia, around 1807. She married Tavener Winn Wisdom (b.1796) in December of 1827, and they settled in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. By 1840 they had moved west to Tennessee (1840 census) and then to Todd County, Kentucky (1850 census).

DESCRIPTION: Silk on linen sampler. Single alphabet across top, followed by poem by English clergyman and writer Rev. James Hervey. A central basket of flowers are at bottom, flanked by inscriptions.
