George Johnston born circa 1722-d. by 1767 __The subject was of the Belhaven area of Fairfax County, Virginia. His land adjoined the Lee family plantation, “Arlington.” He was a lawyer, member of House of Burgesses 1750-1765, and member of Council of Alexandria, Virginia, 1750. __See Craftsman Database and MESDA’s photographic files for information on the artist, John Hesselius.
