Richard Cocke IV 1707-1772 __The subject was of Shoal Bay on the James. His grandson Richard Cocke VI lived at Bacon’s Castle and had a daughter Martha Ann, who married John Peter, who had a daughter, Clara, who married Dr. Cole, who had a daughter, Martha Everard Cole, who married John Ashton, who had a daughter, Clara Ashton, who was mother of the present owner. __See Craftsman database and MESDA’s photographic files for additional information on the artist, John Durand.
