Description
Slant top desk with battened fall front supported by molded lopers with round knobs flanking a drawer over three drawers, all cockbeaded, graduated, keyed entry and decorated with string inlay that intersects to form pointed ovals as stems for simplified bellflowers; valanced skirt and French feet. The desk interior consists of a keyed entry prospect door over a drawer, flanked by reeded document drawers and two valanced pigeon holes over two stacked drawers.

History
Purchased in the Athens area of Georgia, circa 1930.
Joinery
Top is open dovetailed. Drawer blades are yellow pine and faced with 1/8″ walnut strip. Backboards are horizontal rabbeted into sides and cut nailed. Drawer runners were probably nailed to sides (not certain).
