DESCRIPTION: Bow back Windsor chair with bamboo spindles mounted on relief area; saddle seat with splaying legs connected by H-stretcher; remnants of black and yellow paint on back.

RELATED WORKS: In addition to simple bow-back Windsors, such as this example, the McKims advertised Windsors with stuffed seats. We know of other forms such as the writing arm chair in the MESDA collection (Acc. No. 3182).

INSCRIPTION: INSCRIPTION: Paper label on reverse of seat: “AND.w & ROB.t M’Kim,/ Windsor Chair-Makers/ Near the POST-OFFICE,/ RICHMOND.”
