Description
MAKER: Lucy Martin Plummer was born in 1805 on the 24th of May to Kemp Plummer (1769-1825) and Susannah (Martin) Plummer (1776-1838) of Warrenton, North Carolina. Lucy was educated at the Warrenton Female Academy, a premier school run by Philadelphia native, Jacob Mordecai.

Lucy Plummer married William Horn Battle (1802-1879) in June of 1825. In addition to being a legislator and legal scholar, Battle was a judge in the North Carolina courts for 28 years. Lucy died in 1874 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, North Carolina.
