Description
DESCRIPTION: vernacular viola de gamba of poplar with beech fingerboard. The body is coffin-shaped and originally decorated with simulated graining. Two pegs, nut, and string rest missing.
History
PROVENANCE: Said to have been made by a cabinetmaker-coffin-maker named Huff of East Bend, NC; Instrument purchased at Huff estate sale by agent of vendor. OS unable to verify this informtion.
