Description:
DESCRIPTION: Porcelain plate, decorated with three famille rose sprays on the border and an exotic central composition featuring blue rocks with large flowers and gold bamboo. Fashionable export dinner services were made in the inland of China at Jingdezhen and shipped as blanks to Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, the center of the export trade. There, there could be decorated with the most fashionable and marketable patterns by specialized Chinese artisans.

History:
HISTORY: This plate descended in the Daniel Ravenel family of Charleston, and other examples of this porcelain dinner service remain in private Charleston collections.
