DESCRIPTION: Plate, creamware transfer of the Liverpool bird with a feather-edge rim, six small transfers and one large one in well. Scratches all over, chipping on rim, and gry in between feathering.
History:
STYLE: This ware, first popularized by Josiah Wedgwood and pictured in his first pattern book of 1770, was printed by the firm of Sadler and Green in Liverpool. Fragments of the identical ware as the two plates have been found in excavations in Williamsburg, Virginia.
