RELATED OBJECTS: A tea table with the same Carrington family provenance is also in MESDA’s collection (MESDA acc. 5723.1).

History:
Descended in the Carrington and Grigsby families at Edge Hill Plantation in Charlotte County, Virginia. It was documented in late 19th century inventories among the contents of Edge Hill. MESDA recorded a nearly identical music stand that descended in the family of Henry E. Watkins (1782-1856) of Poplar Hill Plantation in neighboring Prince Edward County (MESDA Object Database, #S-7580).
