Description:
DESCRIPTION: Ladder-back side chair; acorn shaped finials, tapered post from top to bottom, ring turnings, ringed feet; four bowed splats dipped in the center; front posts, double turned between the seat and first round, are connected by two plain rounds, two rounds on each side and one connecting the back posts; oak splint seat; traces of early brown paint.

This chair has turnings that are similar to those found on other chairs attributed to the Barton family of Walton County, Georgia.

History:
Purchased from the estate of Bill and Florence Griffen. They acquired the chair from Deanne Levison of Atlanta, Georgia, in September of 1981. According to Levison, it was found by E. H. Massey.
