Description:
DESCRIPTION: Large copper kettle with tin-plated interior and removable lid. The lid has a flat button-type finial. The handle is “C” shaped and attached to two brackets that are riveted to the kettle body. The body is bulbous in shape with an “S” shaped spout.

MARK: Impressed on top of handle with “J.KELLY./ BALTIMORE” (incuse stamp).

MAKER: A James Kelly, orphaned at age 16 on 7 March 1819, was apprenticed to Hugh Allen, coppersmith of Baltimore, Maryland on 30 January 1819.
