Description:
MAKER: Jane Cooper (1799-1856) was the daughter of John Cooper and Jane Gregg of Marion County, South Carolina. She married Joezer Levi Gregg in 1827 and they had seven children. The 1850 census shows Levi Gregg owning 27 slaves. She died in 1856 and is buried at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Florence, South Carolina.

DESCRIPTION: Embroidered coverlet; plain weave cotton ground with cotton embroidery; three loom widths sewn together. Embroidered in reds, white and blues with central floral design, floral border, and scattered flowers over ground. Fragment of fringe remaining on three sides is approximately 1 3/4″ deep; no backing.
