1810-1820
Medium:
mahogany
Dimensions:
HOA: 35; WOA: 28 3/4; DOA: 20
Accession Number:

Description:
DESCRIPTION: Serpentine front corner table with grey marble top; the apron veneered and decorated with a design of patterned line inlay worked in loops; the whole supported by three turned legs.

ATTRIBUTION: Marble tops were placed on furniture to protect the top from damage from drinks and hot food. The use of marble tops on small corner tables is apparently unique to Baltimore. The use of beautifully grained veneers on the apron and in the small oval medallions is typical of Baltimore, as is the paneled inlay, similar panels being found on the aprons of several Baltimore tables.
