DESCRIPTION: Arm chair: Four slightly arched slats in back; two front stretchers, each with 5 groups of deep ring turnings, two plain stretchers on each side and one in back; urn shaped finial atop back posts, each post with three groupings of ring turnings; scroll arm comes over front post; two groupings of ring turnings below seat on front posts, urn and ball turnings with incising above seat on front posts; angled split oak seat; feet missing.

GROUP: An almost identical chair, with intact feet, traces of original red paint, and a Halifax County, NC, history, is in the collection of Historic Hope Foundation.
