Description:
DESCRIPTION: Candle stand: Painted black, with top showing fragments of a red and white dot border with fylfot at center, the top fitted to tilt over turned pedestal; three dowelled and pegged turned legs; top battons restored, nails removed.

STYLE: This table’s legs are dowelled and pegged to the pedestal, and its turn buckle is nailed with a leather washer. Due to this construction and the discovery of a spinning wheel with the same turnings, this piece is attributed to an anonymous turner. Note the tilt top which is very unusual for such a small piece. The top also retains fragments of a painted red-dot design at its perimeter that surrounds two rows of white dots and the remains of a fylfot.
