The self-guided galleries at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) at Old Salem Museums & Gardens is open six days a week. One hour long behind the scenes tours of the museum’s study galleries are offered at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. 2-hour long guided tours of the museum’s study galleries are offered by advance appointment. Reservations are advisable and may be made by calling 336-721-7369 during regular museum hours.
The Frank L. Horton Center, in which MESDA is located, offers visitor facilities including restrooms and a museum store. Prior to a guided study tour, visitors are required to secure cameras, packages, handbags, and backpacks in the lockers provided. All galleries are accessible to handicapped visitors and a wheelchair is available.

MESDA is closed every Monday, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
