Description
DESCRIPTION: Side chair: Has an intact woven oak seat; two vertical spindles between two horizontal rails make the back; has two unadorned back posts that are wider at the base than at the top but have a narrow foot and incised acorn finials; front posts have the same narrow foot and incised ring detail; seven stretchers.

GROUP: Jeffrey S. Evans illustrates an almost identical Augusta County chair in his publication, COME IN AND HAVE A SEAT: Vernacular Chairs of the Shenandoah Valley, 2010, p.76.

History
According to the last owner, these chairs were purchased from a dealer who reported he had found them in Augusta County, Virginia.
