This eight-legged settee with robust bamboo turnings is one of a pair that originally belonged to the Quarles Family of Hurricane Hall Plantation in Fayette County, Kentucky. It is part of a small but growing group of bamboo-turned furniture found in the greater Lexington area. MESDA’s research has documented at least a dozen Windsor chairmakers working in Lexington from 1792 to 1820.
