This sugar desk was featured in the Speed Art Museum’s recent exhibition, “For Safekeeping: The Kentucky Sugar Chest, 1790-1850.” Like MESDA’s recently acquired Kentucky dressing table, the stylistic and construction features of this sugar desk suggest a possible late-eighteenth-century date of manufacture.  Discovered in Mason County, it is the only known Kentucky-made sugar desk with ogee bracket feet.
