Augustus Dozier (1807 - 1902) was born in Columbia County, Georgia and settled in nearby Oglethorpe County. Primarily a farmer, Augustus was also a surveyor. By the Civil War he owned 750 acres and eighteen slaves, placing him among Georgia's upper middling class.
